Residential Irrigation
On July 17 council discussed creating a Residential Irrigation Committee. At the meeting, council said they would need ten members to sit on the committee but a quorum would be six members. The deadline was to be the July 21 meeting. 10 people applied for the position, and a motion was made and carried unanimously to accept the 10 applicants. The mayor is also sitting on the committee, and they must meet once a month until October 31.
RV Parking
Discussion about the RV Parking Bylaw has been tabled until the public hearing on August 18.
Aquatic Centre
Construction of the final stage of the aquatic centre is running behind schedule, but not to a point which significantly affects the opening date. Currently it is approximately two weeks behind schedule.
Request for funding
EPCOR had a representative go before council to request funding in the amount of $77,799 for lab equipment. There have been expansions done to the existing lab to the Waste Water Treatment Plant, and now the lab is lacking the proper equipment required. There was some confusion from council who thought it had been covered through the lab expansions. They were assured it had not been already paid for and Councillor Bob Sobol moved for council to accept the request. “Somebody missed it and we’re all at fault,” said Councillor Lois Wegener. The funding was approved with both the Mayor and Councillor Earl Best opposed.
