Village of Hussar Candidates – Week 3

 Michelle Brown

I think voters should put an X by my name because I have the experience. I believe that I have shown fiscal responsibility over the past six years. My phone lines are always open to residents and people are encouraged to attend council meetings to stay informed about what is going on. I never make promises that I cannot keep as our budget is very tight and a lot of the “extras” simply are not a possibility.
I was born and raised in Hussar and am now raising my family here. This Village and its residents as well as the outlying community, who don’t get to vote, are my main concern. I believe that we all must work as a cohesive group in order to keep a community this size viable. It takes conversation, people who are willing to listen and work as a team. We run on grants and volunteers and some things are just not possible without this type of co-operation. I am always open to new ideas and ways to achieve the goals that we want.
It’s important to think about the major things that need to be done to keep the Village running as well as complying with the government regulations, all of which cost money. Once that is taking care of then we can move into beautifying the Village. People need to focus on the important things that must happen to keep the village running and they are always my first priority.

On Election Day, whether you choose to vote for me is up to you, but here are a few things to keep in mind when making your decision. I am invested in the future of our community and am dedicated to promoting long-term growth and prosperity to ensure my children can enjoy the benefits of small town living with their own families one day.
The economic growth of many businesses and organizations in our Village rests heavily on the presence of a school here. Not only does the availability of a school support economic growth by providing an attractive backdrop for young families, but it also provides meaningful community engagement through its relationship with the community, its residences and the local businesses. Therefore, I will promote and work to the best of my ability ensure that a strong school presence remain in our community.
In addition, if elected another issue in focus is to promote to increase the development of the new subdivision in town, I hope to work with the projects’ developer to eventually get more spec home’s in the subdivision to encourage and support future growth in our Village.
Furthermore, as a Mother of two young children I aim to promote the development of more programs and activities, while continuing to support existing programs for the youth in our community. By encouraging and supporting the youth in our community by developing new programs and supporting existing one’s my hope is that our youth will continue to be active participants here in our Village for the long term.
