Town’s new affordable housing project is given a name

Before an area, or a street, can be renamed council must approve of the recommended names. The area directly east of the existing Strathaven community has been approved for the name Prairie’s Edge. There will be an Area Structure Plan, ASP, coming in the future regarding what the developers would like to do with the area. 

Another motion was brought before council to name the affordable housing units, located at 8 Bayside Place, Bayside Villa. Council unanimously approved the motion.  

 

Street name change

There has been a request to rename East Ridge Rd. to Archie Klaiber Trail. The renaming is set to start at Centre St. and would end at George Freeman Trail. The way the name change was proposed to council was that Archie Klaiber Trail would start at Centre St. and continue to the most easterly point. While council appeared to be in favour, there were some concerns about what the Names Advisory committee had wanted if the road were ever expanded. The motion was tabled until the Names Advisory committee could be contacted and clarification could be made in regards to what it is they were looking for with the renaming.
