Just for kicks soccer camp just wrapped up their two week camp on July 16. This was the first year a soccer camp has been in Strathmore and there were 41 kids participating. The kids range from six-years-old to 14. The first week was the younger kids, and the second week was the older ones.

Jenni Annicchiarico and her brother Michael started the soccer camp, which took place on the field of Holy Cross Collegiate, HCC.
“We just decided we wanted to start a soccer camp. A lot of the kids in our classes are soccer fans,” said Jenni.
Jenni and Michael are both teachers, Jenni is at Sacred Heart Academy and Michael teaches at HCC. In the past, kids who wanted to be in a soccer camp had to go to Calgary.   Shayna Westlund hasn’t played outdoor soccer in a long time and was excited to be a part of the camp.
“I think it’s really fun and it’s cool to learn about soccer and have fun at the same time,” said Westlund.
Colton Cordes’ favourite part of the camp was learning how to play defense. “It’s good, it helps me improve my soccer,” said Cordes. The kids all had a chance to learn the basics of soccer and a few key positions to a soccer team.
“We had a really great turnout and hopefully it will become annual,” said Jenni.
For $120 the kids all received a Just for kicks T-Shirt and were on the field from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Monday to Friday.
