The boy’s soccer team weren’t the only ones competing in South Central zone playoffs last week. The Strathmore High School, SHS, boys Rugby team went to Calgary on June 3 to compete in the bronze medal game.

“It was kind of exciting for the boys,” said Tracey Hamilton, whose son is on the team.  SHS played against Highwood High School, and defeated them with a final score of 25-12. “Most of the game was pretty close and then right near the end they scored a couple of times,” said Hamilton.

“It was a strong team effort, the scoring was spread between the backs and the forwards with everyone contributing to the final result,” said coach Brad Steele.

“The backs put together some very good plays and the forwards moved the ball well, and gave the backs a lot of quality ball.”

The rugby team has had a good season this year. For many of the players this was their last high school game.
