The Rockyford Ringers U19 ringette team hosted, for the second year in a row, provincials at the Rockyford Arena.
Even though Rockyford didn’t make it into the playoff round, head coach Earl Harriman said every game was really close.
“The competition was certainly strong,” said Harriman. “It wasn’t due to lack of effort, the girls played hard.”
Harriman said the best part of the tournament is the people you meet along the way and this year the tournament went very smoothly.
The Ringers played in a pool with Southview Prime, Lacombe Havoc and Edmonton Chaos.
The Medicine Hat Strive beat the Cochrane Rockies in the gold medal final to take home top prize, while the Edmonton Chaos beat Lacombe Havoc to win bronze.
Harriman said early in the season the Ringers had beat Medicine Hat by one goal, and had faced the Cochrane Rockies for the league championship and won the first game, but lost the final two games.
“It always seemed like we were one goal short, but it was definitely great competition,” said Harriman.
Harriman said it was a development year for the team and those who are eligible want to come back next year.
