Wheatland County Council is in the middle of creating a rural address bylaw to make things easier for people trying to find a particular address. The new address system is to help EMS, utility companies, couriers and other visitors. Currently EMS is sent to a quarter section of land and from there they have to try to find a particular house. With an address system EMS will be able to arrive to the scene of an emergency faster and should not have to rely on physically finding the address on a map. All parcels of land within the county, which support a structure with primary access on a public road, will be assigned a rural address by the county. The address signs will be perpendicular to the roadway and parallel to the driveway.  At this time nothing is set in stone as there are a few more amendments to make regarding the address system, and it will be brought back before council on September 21.

Minister sends letter
Transportation Minister Luke Ouellette wrote a letter to the county and town offices regarding the realignment and their meeting last month. In the letter read aloud by deputy reeve Shirley Reinhardt,  it was stated that in regards to the bypass around Strathmore, the transportation offices would be reviewing a number of alignment options. It was stated there might be technical reasons behind which alignment route is picked. As for the realignment of Highway 1, it is recognized there will be an impact to farmlands and they plan to minimize that impact.
