Due to the increased registration and a desire to offer more classes, the Crowfoot Multi 4-H club split into two clubs. Kids are not able to do their public speaking out of both clubs but are welcome to do projects in both clubs.
“We’re just trying to make it two different groups so it’s not too big to be having us all together,” said Yvonne Anderson, an organizer of the club. All of her children have been members of 4-H and she said it has been great for her family, especially the public speaking part. Public speaking generally takes place sometime in February. It is either a speech or a presentation and there are district and regional levels.
Crowfoot Multi will offer sewing, dog agility and archery. The new club will have photography and scrapbooking available.
“Some kids aren’t good at sports, or they aren’t good at school but this is another way to develop the skills they have,” said Anderson.
Some of the programs are already underway but Anderson said there is still plenty of room for kids who are interested in any of the projects they have to offer.
There is one business meeting a month and project meetings throughout the month. The project meetings can either be monthly, bi-weekly, or weekly depending on the project.
Meetings for the Strathmore Multi 4-H club will be held at the Civic Centre once a month, and scrapbooking will be held at the scrapbooking store. It has not been decided yet where the photography project meetings will be.
