Legends return

Elvis and Neil Diamond made a guest appearance at the Legion on the 29.  Tickets sold for $30 and were sold out within a matter of weeks after placing an announcement about the show. The Legion Ways and Means Committee put on the show, finding two impersonators through DNI Entertainment in Calgary.

“We try to get at least one show a year, sometimes one in the spring and one in the fall,” said Jenny Schumann acting president of the Strathmore Branch. The audience had the chance to enjoy cocktails followed by a dinner of prime rib and chicken cordon bleu. Duane Smith, owner of Siding 16 Café, catered the event.

“$30 is well worth the entertainment you’re getting and, that includes the two entertainers and the meal,” said Schumann.

The impersonators put on three shows for the night. The first was just Neil Diamond, then it was Elvis and for the last show it was both Elvis and Neil.

Christopher Hanson, who portrayed Diamond, has been in the business for 20 years, and Will Reeb, Elvis, began his career in 1975 as an impersonator.  The two men work a lot of shows together and both live in Calgary.

There were 120 tickets sold to the event, and the room was packed with people enjoying the tribute to two musical legends.
