Ladies dart club

Members of the Strathmore Legion travelled to Calgary on June 5, to take part in the 39th annual dart shoot. Once a year the ladies of the group get together, either at the Ogden Legion in Calgary, or here in Strathmore.

“We want to go to 40 years,” said Jacqueline Harwood, whose mother Nattie Kernaghan started the Kernaghan Memorial Shoot in 1973. Trophies are awarded to the top players and there are usually 50 to 60 participants.

“There were not as many this year, maybe about 30,” said Harwood.

It is one of the longest running groups who have stuck together throughout the years. Next year the shoot will be held at the Strathmore Legion.
