Students from Strathmore High School and Crowther Memorial Junior High School teamed up for the fourth annual Jazz Night, May 18. The performance was directed by music teacher Karly Zinken.

Members from both school bands joined together at the end of the night for the final song, ‘Play That Funky Music.’

All of the kids in the band stood up one after another to perform solos for a few of the songs.

“It was pretty good, there were no major accidents,” said Scott Chaisson, from the high school.

“It was great that we could collaborate to make this happen. Our music teacher is what really makes it happen,” said Crowther student Cyrus Fiori.

The bands will team up again to host the Concert in the Park, May 28 at Kinsman Park.

“It’s going to be a combination of Strathmore High School, Crowther and Holy Cross Collegiate,” said Zinken. The bands have had time practicing with one another, and the concert will be a mix of the bands playing as one and parts were they will mix things up.

“The Rocky Mountain House concert band is also coming out, they are an adult band out of Calgary. I play with them, and they will be playing at the end of the concert as well,” said Zinken.
