The Lyalta Community club hosted their first annual Sports Challenge over the weekend. For $100 a team, people were invited to take part in the Sports Challenge on June 5. The fee also included free camping. Teams were made up of six people and there were originally six teams but one didn’t make it.  It was called the Crawl to Lyalta Hall, and participants were given T-shirts.  Some of the activities were volleyball, badminton, and basketball. There was also a home run derby and dragon boat races.

“We got really fantastic feedback from everybody. Everyone did state an interest that they would like to come back next year,” said Kim Proust one of the organizers for the challenge. “We’re hoping to have it grow to more teams and maybe a few more events.”

At night there were some indoor ping-pong and dart tournaments. Despite the wind and rain the event was a success . Teams came from all over, including Stettler and Calgary. There were no awards handed out, but a local team was the overall winner.
