Road Repairs
In the Cluny area, Wheatland County Public Works plans to start doing some basic repairs on the roads. It’s just minor wear and tear, and they want to finish the repairs before school starts again in September.

RCMP Annual Performance
Staff Sgt. Larry Marzinzik presented the new numbers from the Annual Performance Plan, APP, in comparison to last year.  Property crimes, such as break and enter and arson have gone down. Addiction and illicit drugs went down approximately 30 per cent. Drug arrests have gone up, and drug trafficking in the county has increased by a whopping 250 per cent. Marzinzik said this is because there is more focus on surveillance and they are getting more warrants. There was a major bust in which a person renting a rural property was watched and was found to be trafficking and running a counterfeit operation out of his home.

There are now nine RCMP officers bike trained, up from the four last year and there has been a 17 per cent drop in non-fatal motor vehicle accidents.  Stolen vehicles still remain a bit of an issue, but Marzinzik said “90 per cent of all stolen vehicles will be recovered, I just can’t say what shape they’ll be in.”

Land Use Bylaw 2010-22
There was an amendment made to the Bylaw, changing it so portable storage is allowed for discretionary use in Hamlets and recreational growth areas. It must be brought before council for approval as to whether it is for discretionary purposes.  Another amendment is more than three unregistered, uninsured vehicles parked on a lot in a Hamlet or recreational growth area will be a breach of the Bylaw.
