Busy summer planned at Gleichen rec-plex

Summer’s almost here, but there’s still plenty happening at the Gleichen Recreation Complex. Congratulations to Gleichen Fire Department on another successful Mother’s Day Breakfast held on May 9. A good crowd turning out for some good food served by some of the community’s finest.

Those coming by the rec-plex will notice some big changes underway in the arena, as we undergo a major renovation to the playing surface. A new concrete surface, new boards and glass will provide teams with an improved rink while also allowing us to provide a complete year round facility for the community. Stop by during the summer and watch the changes unfold.

We will be hosting a community garage sale June 12, running from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call the arena at 403-734-3059 to find out more.

Canada Day will be a fun one at the rec-plex this year with numerous events scheduled including the RCMP slowpitch tournament, old-timers baseball games, kids games, live entertainment and fireworks.
