Business women make presentation to crisis society

It was a night of good company, good food and wisdom. Michelle Cederberg had guests laughing as they listened to her ‘expose the myth about life balance.’ Members of the Wheatland Business Women put the night together but before Cederberg began, a special presentation was made to the Wheatland Community Crisis Society.
The women in the business group had wanted to do something fun over the summer and that is where member Terri Finnegan came in.
“I’m an artist, so I thought, well wouldn’t it be fun if we could all paint.”
So she took a picture, broke it down to lines and gave each woman a couple of pieces of canvas to paint without letting them see the full picture. She also picked the colours they would use. She wanted colours that weren’t realistic so the women wouldn’t have expectations about what colours to use where.
“It was a lot of fun and now the ladies are saying we’ve got to do another one,” said Finnegan. She said many of the women were surprised when the piece was mounted and they could see what they had created. The painting was presented to Marlene Sianchuck, a board member for the crisis society.
“It’s called ‘take my hand’. We felt that works in both ways whether it’s accepting help or giving help depending on your perspective. It means different things depending on who’s looking at it,” said Finnegan.
The painting is to be auctioned off at the Harvest Auction for the crisis society.
After the painting was presented Cederberg launched into her discussion and tips regarding finding the mythical life balance. While she deemed it not possible, she did give the women insight as to how to cut out some of the wasteful things we do and using that time.
