28th anniversary

Lyalta held their 28th annual slo-pitch tournament from July 9 to 11.  There were 18 teams registered for the tournament, coming from Calgary, Chestermere and Strathmore. There was a dance held on the Saturday night and Earth Music was the DJ. The weather wasn’t the sunshine they were used to, but that didn’t stop the teams from having fun.

“I think the weekend went well. The rain on Sunday did not deter the teams from playing and the rest of the weekend was nice weather,” said Kim Proust, one of the organizers of the weekend. There was a 50/50 draw, which was won by Carol Adams. The Girl Guide Brownies took care of the concession again this year and did a fantastic job, said Proust.

The top three teams from the weekend were Runner with first place, the Bears in second and Easton Fection took third. Some of the players who took part in the tournament have been playing since they were teenagers, and there were some who have been a part of the tournament all of the 28 years.
