It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Mary Ann on June 21, 2010 at the age of 51 years. She will be sadly missed by her loving husband and life partner Chris Chipchase.  She was a loving and caring mother to Shane (Karen) and Corey (Olya), and a cherished grandmother to Shane and Karen’s children Grayson and Makenna.  She is survived by family in Mattawa, Ontario, as well as Steve (Debbie) Chipchase and their children; Irene (George) Lennox and their children; and Marion Chipchase.  Mary Ann was kind, caring and devoted to her family, friends, neighbours, co-workers, and to everyone that crossed paths with her.  Heaven has a new angel and no words can express how heart broken we are to lose her.  Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 28, 2010 at Lord of All Lutheran Church, Strathmore, at 2:00 p.m.  To send condolences, please visit www.wheatlandfuneralhome.ca.  WHEATLAND FUNERAL HOME LTD. Michael Shworak of Calgary, Alberta formerly from Wildwood, Alberta passed away June 22, 2010 at the age of 79 years.  He was predeceased by his parents Phillip (1962) and Maria Shworak (1942), his wife Janina Shworak (1994); his grandmother Barbara (1969); his stepmother Natalka and his sister Olga Shworak (February 2010.)  He is survived by his only son Phillip (Christi); two grandchildren, Chloe and Michael; his brother Bill (Helen) Shworak; nieces Kathy Shworak (Neil Francis), Barb Shworak and Nadine (Kirby) Obermeyer and their children Colin and Casey; nephews Nick (Una) Shworak and their children Jocelyn and Alexandra; and Tom Shworak.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 25, 2010 at Wheatland Funeral Chapel in Strathmore, Alberta, at 2:30 p.m.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made directly to the Alberta Cancer Foundation (1331-29th St. N.W., Calgary, T2N 4N2) and / or Agape Hospice (1302-8th Ave., Calgary, T2N 1B8).  To send condolences, please visit www.wheatlandfuneralhome.ca.  WHEATLAND FUNERAL HOME LTD. Paul was born on April 18, 1913 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.  He passed away peacefully on June 25, 2010. He was predeceased by wife Margie Olchowecki and his daughter Vera Peterson.  Paul will be sadly missed and remembered by his granddaughters, Sherry Peterson and Stacy (Dean) Rohatynsky; son-in-law Terry Peterson; great grandchildren, Michelle Helfrich, Cody Helfrich and Haidyn Rohatynsky, one great great grandson Tyler McNee. Marie Louise Carlson, beloved wife of Robert Carlson, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer.   She was born in Stettler, Alberta on September 18, 1942.  She married Bob on March 24, 1961 and raised five children; Wally (Karen), Leonard, Linda (Wayne), Carl (Tina), and Carol (Jeff).  Marie was an active volunteer for the Strathmore United Church Thrift Sale, Strathmore Extended Care and volunteered anytime and anywhere she was needed.  She will be deeply missed by her eight grandchildren, four step grandchildren, three great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren.  Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, April 15, 2010 at Nightingale Community Hall at 1:00 p.m.  Flowers are gratefully declined, therefore in lieu of, donations may be made directly to the Strathmore Hospital Palliative Care Unit (200 Brent Blvd, Strathmore, AB, T1P 1J9).  To send condolences, please visit www.wheatlandfuneralhome.ca. April 22, 1926 - January 15, 2010

On Friday, January 15, our much loved “Poppa” passed away peacefully in Calgary at the age of 83 years. Born and raised in Paddockwood, Saskatchewan, Jack was a career soldier who proudly seved his country for 26 years and was a veteran of the second world war, serving in England, Germany and Canada. In England, Jack met his love,Sue, and they married and made Canada their home base. Settling in Cagary, Jack and Sue raised their two children, Lorraine and Larry. After retiring and moving to Strathmore, Alberta, Jack became the first member of the Adult Day Supprt Program, and spent many happy years there with his friends. Jack was predeceased by his mother and father John and Eleanore St. Thomas, his sister Mae, and his wife Sue. He is survived by his children Larry St. Thomas (Sharon), Lorraine Clark (Blaine) and his grandchildren Amy, Jenny (Travis), Evan and Caitlyn. He is also survived by his sister Bunny and three nieces and their families in Saskatchewan. Jack was a gentle soul, a kind and loving Dad, grandfather and friend to all. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten. The family would like to express their gratitude to the Strathmore Health Unit and Homecare staff. Due to to their kindness and support, he was able to live independantly, which was something he cherished and strove hard to maintain. We would also like to thank Dr. Wakefield and the staff of unit 34 at the P.L.C. for their respectful and compassionate care in his final days. Christopher Melville beloved Husband, Father, Uncle, Grandfather and great grandfather of Strathmore passed away peacefully at the age of 94 years on January 17, 2010.  Max met the love of his life Anne Scheveck. They were wed in 1943 and soon started their family of four sons and three daughters starting with Christina of Calgary, Kenny (Doreen) of Brooks, Darleen (Wolf) of Calgary, Wayne of Strathmore, Linda of Calgary Terry (Karen) of Strathmore, Garry (Maryellen) of Strathmore. Max was also blessed with many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren to numerous to list. Max was a devoted husband and father. He was also a dedicated hard worker, joining the Canadian Military as a young man, he worked in construction, also as a mechanic, a farmer as well as many other things.  He was a wonderful man, with a great sense of humour who loved children and animals a great deal, always welcomed others, and had a jovial smile that will be missed by all who knew and loved him.  A Celebration of Life for Max will take place on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at Wheatland Funeral Chapel at 1:00 p.m. Interment Strathmore Cemetery. Gibeau.JPGJanuary 17, 2010 at the Strathmore Hospital at the age of 74 years. He is survived by his beloved wife Marjorie (nee MacNeil), son Gerard (Debbie) of Eckville, daughter Anita Dyck of Cluny; grandchildren Justin (Emily) Dyck of Strathmore, Kelita (Terry) Topolnisky of Edmonton, Alicia (Joel) Dyck of Strathmore, Shelby Gibeau of Lethbridge, Rosemary and Dusty Gibeau of Rosemary, and Lance and Cody Laschowski of Two Hills; brother Ernest (Theresa) Gibeau of Strathmore; sister Laurette (Ron) Doucet; former daughter-in-law Tammy Cage, mother of Kelita, Shelby, and Dusty; and former son-in-law Blair Dyck, father of Justin and Alicia. Born in Cluny on February 4, 1935, Phil farmed the land settled by his grandmother Oliva Gibeau in 1909, for more than 55 years. Phil was very active in the community with many years of service to the Cluny Rural Fire Protection Association and over 40 years of service to the Cluny Volunteer Fire. He served as a member and Treasurer of the Rural Fire Association and the Cluny Fire Department, as well as Deputy Fire Chief and Fire Chief of the Cluny Fire Department. Phil was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus having been a member for over 55 years. He served on the Gleichen/Cluny Recreation Board, as well as many other organizations such as the Royal Canadian Legion and the 4-H Beef Club. Additionally, he was a member and Chairman of the local Board of the United Grain Growers. Phil was predeceased by a son Francois Gibeau in infancy, father Wilfred Gibeau, mother Lydie (nee Cretin) Gibeau, and sister Rachel Szabo. A prayer service will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Cluny at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 22, 2010 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 11:00 am with Father Garry LaBoucane OMI officiating. Reception will follow the Funeral Mass at Cluny Hall. Cremation to take place after the service with inurnment to be held in Gleichen Cemetery at a later date. Family flowers only by request.
