March 1, 1942 – June 20, 2024

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our dear husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend, Mr. Clifford Kornfeld passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at the age of 82. Clifford, the youngest son of Martha and Werner Kornfeld, was born on March 1, 1942, in Viceroy, Saskatchewan. He grew up on their small farm near Verwood before they moved to Pense, Saskatchewan where Clifford attended school and developed his love for cattle and farming. He moved to Calgary at the age of 16 to find adventures of the big city lights and attend the Calgary Stampede. It was in 1961 that Clifford met the love of his life, Joyce Welsh. They were married on October 5, 1962. This union of love was blessed with 3 children, growing their beautiful family to 5. Clifford worked very hard to provide for his family as a stable hand working with horses, at the bowling alley, and the city of Calgary where he worked for over 32 years, sometimes working two of these jobs at once. The love for farming was still in his blood, so he purchased some land in 1972 near Strathmore. He farmed the land, along with raising cattle while continuing to work full-time in Calgary. In our eyes, and Dad’s, he had a strong will and determination to accomplish anything once he had time to think and process what needed to be done with a smoke in his hand. There was nothing he couldn’t fix, whether it be farming or haying equipment, vehicles, rebuilding tractor motors, building a new house from scratch, or working with his cattle. Irrigating the hay land was known to Dad as “Irritation”. But what made Clifford very proud was his family, their accomplishments in life, and what the grandchildren have accomplished. Clifford always said what he thought, take it or leave it, whether you liked it or not, his opinion was always very strong. Clifford is survived by his loving wife, Joyce of 62 years; children, Steve (Lisa), Cherry (Peter), and Carol (Kevin); grandchildren, Riley (Dielle), Chandi (Ben) Courtney (Thomas), Destiny, Chanel, and Ty; great-grandchildren, Drew, Lola, Merrit, Emery, and Tommy; brother, Mel (Margaret); sister-in-law, Doris; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.  Clifford is predeceased by his parents, Martha and Werner Kornfeld; brothers, Len (Betty) and Norman as well as his grandson, Brayden. Memorial donations in Clifford’s name are gratefully accepted by the Lord of All Lutheran Church (112 Lakeside Blvd, Strathmore, AB T1P 1A1). A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
