ANDERSON, Winnifred Chleras Ellen (nee Doud)
November 28, 1929 – January 29, 2018

It is with sadness, respect, and love, we say good-bye to our very special mother, grandmother, great grandmother and wife. Chleras passed away peacefully with family at her side, on January 29th, 2018 at Sagewood AgeCare in Strathmore, Alberta.
Chleras is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Elwood, as well as their seven children, Jane (Barry) of Duncan BC, Cindy (Graham) of Moose Jaw SK, Trent (Susie) of Townsville AU, Kevin (Jo-Anne) of Comox BC, Cheryl (Kirby – deceased) of Moose Jaw SK, Derrick of Olds AB, Kimberley of Calgary AB; eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, a large extended family and many close friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, Ed and Sarah Doud, and her five brothers, Jim (Myrtle – deceased), Irvin (Leona – deceased), Eddy (Dorothy – deceased), Lionel (Gladys), Dennis (Pat).
Chleras trained as a psychiatric nurse in Weyburn SK, ending her very rewarding career in nursing at Valley View Centre in Moose Jaw SK. Elwood’s career with the Royal Canadian Air Force made for a very eventful life, that took them to many interesting places while raising a large family together.
Chleras battled with Alzheimer’s Disease and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease for many years. She put up an incredible fight right up until the end, largely due to the unfailing support and of love of her husband and children. Her family was everything to her and she will live on in our thoughts and will be forever missed. One life lesson she tried to instill in her children was to always see the best in people.
A special thank-you to the staff at Sagewood AgeCare for the exceptional care they gave Chleras for the past three and a half years. If family and friends so desire, memorial tributes in Chleras’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
Chleras’s wish was to be cremated and buried in the family plot in Maxim SK. A service and burial to celebrate and honor Chelas will be held in the spring of 2018. To send condolences, please visit Chleras’s obituary at www.wheatlandfuneralhome.ca
