WHEELER, Lance Morley

WHEELER, Lance Morley
April 8, 1939 – December 2, 2017

As the sun set on Saturday, so too did the life of a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many.
Lance was born in Calgary, Alberta to Marion and Lincoln Wheeler on April 8th, 1939. He attended school in the communities of Dalemead and Carseland, and then continued on to Olds College where he graduated from their agricultural school. On November 18th, 1961, he married Heather King of Indus, and they resided on the family farm south of Dalemead. Together they put their trust in the weather, raised two children, and celebrated the family farm’s centennial anniversary in 2009. Lance was very active in the development of his community and participated in numerous boards, most notably the Bow Valley Ag Society and the creation of the Indus Arena. He spent several years in his retirement as a rural realtor for Aztec Realty. Lance continued to be deeply involved with his farm even through his retirement, and he enjoyed his final years surrounded by family.
Lance is lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Heather; his children Dianne (Jim) Novak and Stuart (Michele) Wheeler; and his grandchildren Bradley (Beth) Novak, Kennedy Novak, and Marla Wheeler. The family is extremely grateful to Lance’s physician, Dr. Fanning, and the staff at the Strathmore Hospital for their genuine kindness and compassionate care. Charitable donations can be made to the Bow Valley Agricultural Society (Indus Recreation Centre) http://indusrec.ca/donate Please indicate your donation is for “Ice Expansion.” At Lance’s request, there will be no service.
