Carpenter Casey, Marie

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Marie Carpenter Casey on January 21,2017. She leaves behind her loving children, Anthony (Laurie) Darlene (Andy) Debbie (Lyle) Brian (Loretta) Bob. Her grandchildren Bonnie (Gord), Quentin (Rochelle) AJ (Megan) Cassondra (Tim) Darrell (Tara) Cristen Jennifer Kendra (Ryan) & Coleman. She has 6 Great Grandchildren as well. Her life began on April 6 1942 in Grimsby, Ontario and her happiest days were spent in her Grandparents home on the Six Nations Reserve. Mom proudly received her Native Status late in life. However, in 1967 with 4 children and her German Shepard dog she boarded a train to head west to Strathmore Alberta to join her husband and begin a new life. A stay at home mom in those first few years, she soon was the house where all the kids hung out at. She began babysitting many kids throughout the years. Marie made many life long friends in this little town. She loved volunteering her time to Brownies, Scouts, Strathmore Rodeos, Parades and Seniors. She was a founding organizer for Block Parents in the early ‘80’s . Marie spent many hours helping seniors from Sunset Haven over the years. Always putting others needs before hers. She loved to crochet, knit, bake , play pranks, suntan, snorkel and ELVIS. Humor was prevalent in her life and we can still see that smile and hear that laugh. With only a grade 9 education and went back to school and obtained her High School Diploma at the age of 51. A proud moment in her life. Dog sitting by far became the most loved job she ever had, which kept her busy the past 10 years. Marie’s health was over taken by COPD and became very difficult in the past year which caused her much pain and frustration. She is now in the Heavens with her loving brothers and friends. At Maries’ request there will be no Funeral Service and in lieu of flowers please send a donation to Animal Care Centre of Strathmore.
