Corbiell, May Jeanette (Heather)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, May (Heather) Corbiell on January 19, 2016. May was born on the family farm on May 28, 1930 to George & Tillie Heather at Milo, Alberta. Mom attended school for grades 1-10 in the Milo area while completing grades 11-12 at Camrose Lutheran College. In 1948 May met her soul mate Damien Corbiell and was married on April 20, 1950. It was on the family farm, north of Cluny, that they raised three children Barry, Heather and Alan. Mom was an avid reader, loved to garden, and was also involved with many community groups, namely the CWL and sang for many years with the choir. They lived on the farm until 1987 when they retired into Strathmore. May leaves behind her husband Damien, the love of her life of 65 years; son Barry (Lindsay) Corbiell and their family Melanie & Justin Hardy, Michael Corbiell, Carmen Corbiell & Justin Corbiell; daughter Heather (Bruce) Johansen and their family Michelle & Murray Gordon, Trevor Johansen, & Bryce Johansen; and daughter-in-law Sharon Corbiell (Don Peters), and their family Reilly Corbiell, Lauren Corbiell, Stephanie Peters, Christa Peters & Jenny Peters. With a special place in mom’s heart were her 5 precious great-grandchildren Grayson & Avery Hardy, Owen & Trey Corbiell, and Brynlee Gordon. Mom also leaves to mourn 3 sisters, Harriett, Joanne, and Donna, and numerous relatives and friends. Mom was predeceased by son, Alan Corbiell on December 5, 2005. The family would especially like to thank Doctors Sader & Lobay, and Joelle Sonsteby for their exceptional attention and care they provided to mom over the years. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at Hope Community Covenant Church at 11:00 a.m. To send condolences, please visit May’s obituary at www.wheatlandfuneralhome.ca.
