Boyd, Patricia Lynn (nee Stubbs)
July 7, 1954-July 8, 2016

It is with our deepest sorrow that we inform you of the passing of our beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Daughter and Sister, Patricia (Patti) Lynn Boyd (nee Stubbs) on July 8, 2016, just a day after her 62nd birthday. Patti will be deeply missed by her husband of 42 years, Owen Boyd, sons Kevin Boyd (Angie) and Kelly Boyd, brothers William (Bill) Stubbs (Heather) and Barry Stubbs (Karla), mother Caroline Stubbs (nee Tyess), grandchildren Tessa and Tyson Boyd, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father Robert William (Bill) Stubbs in 1998. Patti was born in Hanna Alberta where she graduated high school in 1972 and married the love of her life, Owen Boyd in 1973. In 1991 they moved their little family of four to Strathmore where they remained to raise their children, retire and watch their grandchildren grow. For many years Patti tended to her mother Caroline’s joy, care and wellbeing and continued to look after her mom until she was no longer able to manage due to her failing health. She was a caregiver at heart, and found her life niche and true calling working with, as well as advocating for the elderly as a Licensed Practice Nurse (LPN) in senior care facilities. Patti had been suffering from Myelodysplasia, a form of bone marrow failure for a little more than two years; sadly, she succumbed to complications of the disease before being able to receive a stem cell transplant. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. We would like to thank all the health care staff, including all the Doctors, the lab techs, all the nursing staff, and all support staff over the past few years who helped Patti through this long process. There are too many names to mention, you all mean so much to us for all that you have done and the care that you have provided. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the friends and family who have been there for support and comfort through this time, you will never know how much your strength has supported us. An open house Celebration of Life will be held on Monday July 18, 2016 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 10 in Strathmore, AB from 1:30 till 4:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to the Aplastic Anemia and Myelodysplasia Association of Canada (Aplastic Anemia and Myelodysplasia Association of Canada, 11181 Yonge Street, Suite 321, Richmond Hill, ON, L4S 1L2 or by following the link https://www.canadahelps.org/dn/3492) or any donations received by the family will be donated in Patti’s name for research in to this little known life threatening disease.
