May 2, 2015 Calgary, AB.
Aged 67 years

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Darryl. He leaves to mourn his beloved wife, Elaine; his three children – Stephan, Dave (Bless) and Hillary and three beautiful grandchildren. Also mourning his loss is his brother Gordon, nieces and nephews and cousins. Darryl was predeceased by his parents Max and Vera Butler and by his in-laws John and Reta Bittorf. Darryl was in the Royal Canadian Navy as a younger man and became a truck driver after leaving the service. He drove for CP Express for many years and continued on with Interlink as the company changed course. Recently he worked as a Commissionaire and helped with the Calgary City Police force with one of their mail runs. At this job he was greatly appreciated and treated to many ‘goodies’ along the way be it coffees, donuts and meals with the various departments. He was a diligent worker and loved his position there for he got to meet and talk to a lot of different people. Darryl had a passion to volunteer with Transport for Christ, a trucking ministry. He would spend many hours at the chapel in Calgary and enjoyed interacting with every driver that he met at the truck stop. If you wish to make a donation in Darryl’s memory please send it to Transport for Christ (6242 Route 105, Lower Brighton, N.B., E7P 1B3). An inurnment service will be held at Strathmore Cemetery on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at Hope Community Covenant Church (245 Brent Blvd., Strathmore) at 2:30 p.m. To send condolences, please visit Darryl’s obituary at www.wheatlandfuneralhome.ca.
