GARNEAU, Leonie Celina (nee Gauthier)

April 25, 1924 – January 23, 2012

 

The Good Lord tenderly wrapped His arms around Leonie and peacefully took her to join He and Fern by His side on Monday, January 23, 2012 at 9:24 a.m.  Leonie was born in Quebec on April 25, 1924.  She was predeceased by her loving husband Fern of 64 years of marriage, and her son Ron in 1978.  Leonie will be greatly missed by her surviving siblings; her children Huguette Lawson, Diane Lewis, Bernard Garneau (Roberta), Yvon Garneau (Gerda), Jo-Anne MacDonald (Jim Wong), Lynne Klyne Garneau (Maureen); 21 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.  She went peacefully, surrounded by her four daughters and daughter-in-law at the Peter Lougheed Hospital in Calgary.  Leonie moved to Strathmore with her husband Fern in July 2006 from St. Catherines, Ontario. During her short time in Strathmore, Leonie made an impact on everyone who knew her.  We love you and miss you Mom.  A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 13, 2012 at Lord of All Lutheran Church (112 Lakeside Blvd, Strathmore) at 2:00 p.m.  Please join us on this day to share in her life.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to the Alzheimer Society of Calgary (201, 222 – 58 Ave SW, Calgary, AB, T2H 2S3).  To send condolences, please visit www.wheatlandfuneralhome.ca.  WHEATLAND FUNERAL HOME LTD.
