CHATELAIN, Fredrick

December 16, 1928 – April 7, 2012

 

It is with great sadness that the family of Fred Chatelain announce his passing. After a long and healthy 83 years, Dad fought a brief but courageous battle with Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. He passed away at home with his family by his side. Born in High River, Dad spent most of his working life in Calgary before retiring to Strathmore. All through his retirement years and right up to the end, Dad enjoyed his passion for golf and was a long time member of the Strathmore Golf Club. Besides golf, Dad loved to spend time with family and friends, including four legged ones. Many special family times took place at our special “River” camp. Dad was predeceased in 2007 by his loving wife of 54 years Delphine. He is survived by his children Pat (Mark), Barry (Sandra), Judy (Greg), and Janice (Jay); grandchildren Carey, Lindsey, Tracy, Nathan and Colby; his two older sisters, Rita Belway (Calgary) and Ruth Hall (Castlegar). A special thanks to Alberta Health Home Care nurses Jacqueline Harris and Leanne Macinnis who were of great help and support in keeping Dad at home and comfortable in his final days. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 20, 2012 at Lord Of All Lutheran Church, Strathmore at 11:00 a.m. If friends so desire, tributes may be made directly to the Alberta Cancer Foundation (1331-29 St. N.W., Calgary, AB, T2N 4N2).
