BARSTAD, Gordon Allan

May 5, 1951 – May 25, 2012

 

Gord’s short battle with cancer ended on May 25, 2012. He is survived by his brothers Gerald and Robert (Karen); and his sisters Helen (Jack) Talbot, and Elvina (Walter) Langhans. Gord will also be missed by a large extended family and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents Elvin and Eva; brothers Melvin, Clarence, Duane, Errol, Donald, Leonard, Ronald, and Fred. Gord was born in Calgary and raised in Gleichen. He spent most of his life in Alberta, most recently in Vulcan. He worked over the years in a variety of oil patch and retail jobs. Never concerned with possessions, he counted his wealth as his family and many friends. He was a favourite with young people at any gathering and they came in numbers to give him comfort during his final days. The family thanks the staff at Rockyview Hospital for their care.
