GREGORY, Maggie 1907 – 2011
Maggie Gregory (nee Reiffenstein) quietly passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 in Strathmore, Alberta. The Reiffenstein family emigrated from Iowa, USA in 1917 to a farm southeast of Standard, Alberta. Maggie married Rex Gregory in April of 1926. They made their home on a farm west of Hussar until 1973 when they retired from the farm and moved to Strathmore. Maggie is survived by seven children, thirty-one grandchildren, fifty great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Her surviving children are Margaret Gibeau of Airdrie; Ralph (Muriel) Gregory of Strathmore; Catherine Gregory of Calgary, Barbara (Ray) Shoemaker of Kelowna, BC; Ron (Zinnia) Gregory of Kelowna, BC; Gilbert (Karen) Gregory of Hussar; Theresa (Jim) Adams of Trochu; and son-in-law Bill Holt of Calgary. Maggie was predeceased by her husband Rex Gregory in 1991; daughters Frances Treacy in 2005, and Marilyn Holt in 2008; grandson Michael Gregory in 1976; sons-in-law Albert Gibeau in 2002 and Jack Treacy in 2002. Maggie had twelve siblings, all of whom have passed away. Maggie’s final residence and care was at Meadowlark Care in Strathmore where Debbie Wakelam provided a beautiful home. Debbie and her staff gave Maggie great TLC until her death; thank you Debbie and Staff.
