d’ARGENT, Philippe

 

Philippe passed away peacefully on March 28, 2011, with his loving family by his side.  He is survived by his wife Ellen; sons Dominique (Joy) d’Argent and Eric (Lori) d’Argent; grandchildren Quinn, Lucas and Stella; brothers Jean Claude and Xavier; and sisters Anne-Marie and Odile.  He was predeceased by his parents Elisabeth and Charles d’Argent, and brothers Henri and Dominique.  Phil was born in Moulins, France on January 8, 1943.  In 1968, while on a trip to Canada, he met Ellen and they were married in 1970.  In 1971, their son Dominique was born.  They settled in Standard in the spring of 1973, and in 1974 their son Eric was born.  Phil started Alberta Veg-Berry Farms and farmed 40 acres of vegetables.  It later became known as AVB Greenhouses.  Phil loved spending time with family and friends.  He was passionate about nature, animals, the mountains and his many pets.  Phil enjoyed entertaining and always found someone to visit with.  He was always looking for an adventure.  Phil loved life and the many treasures it held.  A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 1, 2011 at St. Rita’s Catholic Church, Rockyford at 2:00 p.m.  If desired, donations may be made directly to the Standard Community Hall Building Fund (C/O Village of Standard, Box 249, Standard, AB, T0J 3G0) or to Hospice Calgary Society (1245 – 70 Avenue S.E., Calgary, AB, T2H 2X8).
