McGILLIS, Thomas Pascha

On Saturday, October 16, 2010, Tom McGillis passed away peacefully at the Colonel Belcher Hospital in Calgary.  Predeceased by his loving wife Elsie in 2007 (they were both 91 years of age at their passing).  After returning from service overseas on New Year’s Day in 1946, and marrying Elsie in January, Tom worked as a maintainer (grader) operator for the MD’s of Blackie, Highwood and the county of Vulcan for about ten years.  Strathmore then became our home and Tom plowed snow and maintained roads in the County of Wheatland until he retired at the age of 72.  Always a driver and backyard mechanic, he loving fishing, hunting and his family.  It seemed to us and all of his friends that he could fix anything, “Take it to Tom.”  He will be sadly missed by us who are left behind: son Ian (Linda), daughters Dot and Noreen (Serge), eight grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, brother Bud (Margaret) of Mossleigh, and sister Rose of Edmonton.  Memorial services will be held on Friday, October 22, 2010 at the Strathmore Royal Canadian Legion Hall at 2:00 p.m.  To send condolences, please visit www.wheatlandfuneralhome.ca.  WHEATLAND FUNERAL HOME LTD.
