Roy passed away on October 18, 2010 at the age of 83 years. He is survived by his wife, Melva; son James David (Brenda) of San Jose, California; daughter Joanne Marie (Bruce) of Leduc, Alberta; brother Sherman of Washington; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two step-children; and three step-grandchildren. Roy was a grain farmer in the Standard area from 1946 until 1994. He was an aircraft mechanic for CP Air prior to farming. A memorial service will be held at Wheatland Funeral Chapel (Strathmore) on Monday, October 25, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society (#200, 325 Manning Road N.E., Calgary, T2E 2P5) or the Alzheimer Society of Calgary (#201, 222-58 Ave. S.W., Calgary, T2H 2S3).
